Are you insured?
This should be the first question out of your mouth for anyone wanting to clean the dog waste out of your yard. Anyone can say they run a pet waste removal company but if they are not insured they do not have your pet’s best interest in mind. What happens when they leave a gate open and your dog gets out? Or what if they do not sanitize their tools between jobs and they spread a disease to you pets? Make sure your scooper has insurance or show him/her the door.
Do you have an initial clean-up fee?
Many companies claim no initial clean-up fee but be sure to read the fine print. If you do read the fine print you will usually see words like if there is a lot of build-up you could be subject to an additional fee. The only time there should be a lot of buildup overall is before the initial cleaning is done, if they are going to charge you extra then that would be an initial clean-up fee.
Do you have a contract?
The simple answer is YES, every company has a contract. If they say they do not be sure to ask if you can get a cheaper price. When you ask usually they will give you a lower price but they will present you with a contract. Also beware with many contracts they will require you to pay at least half of it up front or all of it in one lump sum.
